Point of Care Ultrasound in IBD

Learning Objectives

  • Discuss the evidence behind the use of intestinal ultrasound in IBD

Dr. Siwar Albashir graduated from medical school from the University of Jordan in 2006 and completed her Internal Medicine Residency in 2011 from Cleveland Clinic, Cleveland, USA.  She was the Chief Medical Resident at the Cleveland Clinic in 2012. 

Dr. Albashir completed her Gastroenterology training at McMaster University in 2014, then became a Clinical Scholar in Gastroenterology at McMaster University from 2014-2016.  She later Joined McMaster University as an Assistant Professor in 2016 and now Associate Professor in the Division of Gastroenterology.  She completed her intestinal ultrasound training in Calgary, Alberta and Milan, Rome.  She is currently a member of the International Bowel Ultrasound Group and an Executive Committee member of the Canadian Bowel Ultrasound non-profit.   She has a strong interest in the use of small bowel ultrasound in IBD.  Her research interest is in Ultrasound in IBD, AI and quality endoscopy.
